The chances are, you probably go to some chain restaurants. Whether these are fast food restaurants or ’sit-down’ restaurants, you still might wonder how you’re going to eat healthy when you go to these places.
The good news is that it can be done / if you can resist temptation. There are many different foods on the menus at these places that are not healthy, but the good news is you don’t have to indulge in them.
Often times you can order from the appetizer menu for healthy options. A big salad is always a healthy choice. You can eat these foods instead of the greasy artery clogging counterparts. Look out for greasy or fatty meats, fried foods, also stay away from cheese heavy dishes.
Fried cheese sticks are a no-no, for instance if you’re eating healthy. Instead choose lean meats like seafood or chicken and have them grill it not fry it.
Grilling is much better for your heart as opposed to frying because they don’t retain any grease. If grilling isn’t an option you can also get them baked in many places.
If you can’t do that and have no choice but to get them fried, try to get food that is pan friend instead of deep fried because the longer it soaks in grease the unhealtier it is. Along with the lean meat that you’ll want to order, also order fresh veggies.
Fresh vegetables aren’t always an option, . As a side ask for salad instead of fried potatoes and keep an eye out when it comes to which meals are ‘lean’ or ‘calorie reduced’.
Many restaurants are great about offering lighter healthier menu options so go for it if it looks healthy but always trust your gut. Just because the menu says its healthy doesnt mean it is Often times they are, however there are also other choices that are healthier or just as healthy and better for your tastebuds too.
The next time you eat at Authentic Turkish Cuisine try the chicken salad.
